Domestic container transport rates depend on the container type (20ft, 40ft, 40HC), the distance covered, the type of cargo, the timing and the direction of the run (one way or round trip). FCL (Full Container Load) means hiring a whole container for a single shipper, suited to large consignments that fill a container. LCL (Less than Container Load) is consolidated cargo sharing a container with other shippers, charged by volume (CBM) or weight, and suited to smaller consignments. CARIMEX offers both.
As a guide: by road using a container tractor unit usually takes 2–3 days; domestic coastal shipping takes around 4–6 days depending on the sailing schedule. Actual times depend on traffic, weather and handover procedures. CARIMEX commits to the schedule and updates cargo location in real time.
To ISO standards: a 20' DC container measures about 5.9 × 2.35 × 2.39 m internally (~33 CBM); a 40' DC about 12.03 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (~67 CBM); a 40' HC about 12.03 × 2.35 × 2.69 m (~76 CBM); a 45' HC about 13.55 × 2.35 × 2.69 m (~86 CBM). The basic process: (1) prepare the document set (contract, invoice, packing list, B/L and so on); (2) file the electronic customs declaration through the VNACCS/VCIS system; (3) channel assignment (green/yellow/red), document check and physical inspection if required; (4) pay duties; (5) clearance and cargo handover.
